As part of the URUGERO program in partnership with AHF Rwanda, teen mothers are currently gaining valuable sewing vocational skills, empowering them with practical tools for economic independence. During this holiday period, adolescents from four schools in Nyarugenge are also participating in a specialized training program designed to equip them as peer educators. These young leaders are being prepared to share critical knowledge with their peers on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections and teenage pregnancies. The initiative aims to foster informed, responsible decision-making among youth while building a strong network of peer support within their communities.
On July 30th, at the Vocational Station, we hosted an inspiring and impactful session with 16 teen mothers, focusing on equipping them with essential life skills to support their personal and professional growth. These determined young women actively participated in a comprehensive training that covered key areas such as effective communication, collaboration, and leadership. Through engaging activities and discussions, they learned how to build strong and confident voices, develop the ability to work collaboratively for shared success, and cultivate leadership qualities both at home and in the workplace. Each of these skills represents a crucial step in their journey toward greater independence, self-empowerment, and positive community impact. It was an honor to support and walk alongside them as they continue to unlock their full potential and strive for brighter futures.
On the 6th, 9th, and 13th of August, we conducted a series of follow-up activities focused on assessing the accessibility and functionality of the IRIZA Audiobook and the Kigali Menstruation Station Virtual Tour by directly engaging with adolescents across three districts in Rwanda Kamonyi, Kicukiro, and Nyarugenge. These sessions aimed to gather valuable user feedback, evaluate the effectiveness of the tools in real-world settings, and ensure they are truly meeting the needs of young people. In each location, adolescents were given the opportunity to interact with the digital tools using mobile phones and tablets, guided by facilitators who provided technical support and led group discussions. Participants shared their experiences, highlighted the ease or difficulty of access, and provided insightful suggestions for improvement. The feedback collected revealed a high level of interest and appreciation for the tools, especially for their user-friendly design, informative content, and relevance to daily challenges faced by youth in understanding sexual and reproductive health. Some adolescents expressed that the audiobook made learning more engaging and relatable, while the virtual tour offered a unique, visual way to understand menstrual hygiene. These feedback sessions not only helped us fine-tune the tools but also reinforced the importance of involving young people in shaping the solutions meant for them.
On August 8th, we proudly launched the first-of-their-kind digital Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) tools the IRIZA Audiobook and the Kigali Menstruation Station Virtual Tour. This groundbreaking event marked a significant milestone in our efforts to make SRH education more accessible, engaging, and youth-friendly. The launch brought together a diverse audience, including adolescents, parents, teachers, and guardians, who were eager to explore these innovative resources. The IRIZA Audiobook offers an inclusive and relatable audio-based learning experience on key SRH topics, designed specifically for young listeners, while the Kigali Menstruation Station Virtual Tour provides an immersive, guided experience of the model menstruation station, allowing users to understand proper menstrual hygiene management in a virtual yet practical setting. Both tools were enthusiastically received by the community, praised for their creativity, accessibility, and relevance. The event featured live demonstrations, interactive discussions, and testimonials from youth and educators, all reinforcing the importance of digital innovation in advancing SRH education. The positive reception underscored a growing readiness within the community to embrace technology as a powerful tool for awareness, education, and empowerment.
On June 23rd, in partnership with the SRH Network, we organized an impactful community outreach event titled

Target group

We target distinct communities that have adolescents who are between 13-21 years old. Both boys and girls are welcomed, and the reason why we involve boys in our target group is to help raise a generation of males who do not contribute to menstrual stigma, gender-based violence, and teenage pregnancies.
